I actually remember when I first bought Majora's Mask and they had the full walkthrough spread through multiple issues, and how angry I was having to wait 2 more months just to find every secret in the game. Nowadays it's just a browser click away to get to GameFAQs, which is convenient, but just didn't have the kick that alot of the older game magazines had (I know it's mainly because it's all user-generated content, but all in all...). Oh, and i recently came across a HUGE collection of Nintendo Power magazines...my god are they corny, but then again, like you explained, it WAS the style to fit the times. But it still had to bring us the infamous Zelda rap...ugg... Read through the article, and i can 100% agree with you.
